- The strongest geomagnetic storm in solar cycle 24 is in progress
right now and the aurora should be visible across mid and upper
latitudes.
An index of 8 from a 0-9 scale is showing up on solar graphs. This detonates a severe geomagnetic storm in progress.
No
reports of blackouts yet but a severe geomagnetic storm with a value of
8 will likely cause some problems. This was caused by two back to back
X-class flares that are providing a 'glancing blow' at our planet today.
skywatchers should be on the lookout for the aurora right now if it is
midnight your local time, so European countries should be seeing a
light show to the north.
